Applications are invited for Nathan Shock Center internship awards. These awards are open to all trainees (students and postdocs) whose research could be assisted by one of the cores of the Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Biology of Aging.

The main purpose of these awards is to provide a short course of informal hands-on experience with the functions and purpose of the core. Secondarily, if appropriate, the trainee may obtain practical assistance from the core such as sample analysis, behavioral tests, pharmacokinetics, etc.
Applications should be a single page describing how a specific core could assist the trainee in their research. The trainee’s mentor should supply a brief letter indicating their support for the trainee’s involvement in this program. The trainee should consult the appropriate core leader(s) before submitting the application and the application should include a letter from the core leader(s) indicating that they understand and accept the involvement of their core in the project.
It is possible that funds to support the plan may be made available by the Research Development Core, if appropriate. However, we anticipate that in many cases trainees’ education in core functions would not require funding.
